Our place is at No. 147 Bajdaro Ki Mori, right in the Chandi Ki Taksal area. If you know the neighborhood, you know it is full of history and very narrow lanes. We spend our days surrounded by rolls of fabric. There are stacks of cotton and different materials reaching all the way to the ceiling sometimes. It gets a bit dusty with all the threads and cloth, but that is just part of the business. We don't have a big fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a traditional shop where we roll out the cloth on the floor or a wooden desk to show people the patterns. The morning starts with a cup of tea from the stall nearby and then we start unrolling things for the first customers. Chandi Ki Taksal is always moving, and we are right in the middle of it. Sometimes it is hard to find us if you aren't looking closely, but we like it here. We’ve seen the seasons change and the fashions go in and out, but the way we do things stays pretty much the same. We measure out the meters by hand and cut them with the same heavy scissors we’ve used for years. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy rolls and keeping track of the stock in the back room. We don't really do much advertising; people just know we are here.
