Ashoka Jewellers

Ashoka Jewellers is located on the first floor of Ram Bhawan, right in the middle of Vidyadhar Ka Rasta. If you know Gopalji Ka Rasta in Johri Bazar, you know how crowded and lively it gets every single day. We have been in this exact spot for a long time. The shop is not very big, but it is packed with history and various jewelry items. We mostly sit on the floor or on low stools when we work. It is the traditional way things are done in this part of the city. You have to climb some narrow stairs to reach us at room 607. Sometimes the lights flicker when the market is particularly busy, but we are used to it by now. My father started this business, and now we just keep it going. We deal with gold and silver items mostly. There is no air conditioning here, just a big ceiling fan that makes a lot of noise. We talk to a lot of people every day, mostly neighbors and regular customers who have been coming to us for decades. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are located. We keep our tools on a small wooden bench in the corner. It gets a bit dusty because of the open windows, but we clean the jewelry constantly. It is just how things work in Johri Bazar. We close up around eight in the evening.
