Our place is over in Mukesh Colony, Janakpuri, specifically at A 37. It’s tucked away in Bapu Nagar. We’ve been working with tools for a long time. The shop has that smell of metal and oil, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We aren't a big factory, just a local spot where we deal with various industrial tools and bits. It’s often noisy because someone is always testing something or moving heavy metal around. The floor is concrete and has some stains, but that’s how a tool shop should look. People from the nearby workshops come in looking for specific sizes or parts that they can't find elsewhere. We try to keep a good variety, but sometimes we have to search through the back shelves to find exactly what someone wants. It’s a lot of manual work. My clothes usually have some grease on them by the end of the shift. We don't have a fancy front office. You just walk in and talk to whoever is behind the bench. Janakpuri is a busy part of Bapu Nagar, so there’s always people moving about. We open early because that’s when the work starts for most of our customers. It’s a steady life, just handling tools and helping people get their own jobs done. Most days we just spend our time checking the inventory and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s not glamorous but it’s what we do every day.
