Amer Craft Bazaar

Amer Craft Bazaar is situated at number 17 in Shyam Vihar, over in the Kunda area near Amer Fort. It’s quite close to the CISF military area, which makes it a fairly quiet neighborhood most of the time. We sell a lot of local handmade items here. The shop is full of textiles, pottery, and some wood carvings. We get these from artisans who live in the villages around here. It’s not a big tourist showroom like the ones you see on the main road to the fort. We’re a bit tucked away, which I actually prefer. It feels more personal. I spend a lot of my time dusting the shelves because the Rajasthan dust gets into everything. We have piles of rugs and blankets stacked up in the corners. It’s just me and my nephew running the place. We don’t have a fixed price list for everything, we just talk to people and see what they need. Some days no one comes in, and other days it’s quite busy with people looking for gifts to take home. We don't use fancy packaging. We just wrap things in brown paper and tie them with string. It’s a small family business and we’ve been here for several years. We like the history of Amer and being part of this community. Come by if you want to see some real work. There is always tea waiting for anyone who visits and wants to stay for a bit.
