V.K.I. Area is a tough place to work if you don’t like dust and heat, but we’ve been at F-282-284 on Road No. 9J for years. Everything here revolves around stone and marble. The sound of saws and the heavy rumbling of trucks is just the background music to our day. Out in the yard, there are slabs of marble leaning against each other, and you have to be careful where you walk. Our office is a small building right on the plot, where we try to keep the marble dust off the keyboards. It’s a constant battle. We spend our time talking to contractors and checking the quality of the stone coming in. It’s hard work, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a lobby; you just walk in and talk to whoever is at the desk. The sun really beats down on this part of Road 9J, so we try to get the heavy loading done early in the morning before it gets unbearable. Agarwal Marbles & Industries Limited is basically just a group of us who know our stones and how to get them where they need to go. We drink a lot of water and keep the fans going. It’s simple, rugged work, and we don’t try to make it sound like anything else.
