Up here in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, things are a bit different from the city. Our cement plant is located in Nongsning, near Chiehruphi and Khliehriat. It’s a rugged area with lots of hills and heavy rain during the monsoon. The work here is physical and involves a lot of machinery. We spend our days managing the plant operations and making sure the cement is being produced correctly. It's a large site, and there’s always something that needs fixing or checking. The air is often thick with the sound of the plant running. Most of the staff live nearby or in the surrounding villages. We don't have a polished office; it’s more of a practical building on the plant grounds. We deal with transport trucks coming in and out all day long. The roads can be tricky, especially when it’s muddy, but we keep things moving. We aren't here to make things look pretty; we are here to produce cement for the region. It's a lot of long hours and hard work in a beautiful but tough landscape. People around here know us as a main employer in the district. We focus on the daily output and making sure the bags are loaded properly. It’s a basic, honest industrial life out here in the hills.
