M/S. Sathyam Poultry Farm

If you come out to Thirmalapuram, you will find our farm at H.No:2-84. It is part of the Pegadapalle mandal, and it is pretty far out from the main city noise. Running a poultry farm means you are always on your feet. There is no such thing as a holiday when you have thousands of birds to look after. They need water, they need food, and they need the temperature to be just right. Sathyam is usually out there in the sheds checking on everything himself. It is a lot of physical work and your hands are never really clean for long. We don’t have a fancy office for meetings. If someone wants to talk to us, they usually find us near the sheds or at the small porch of the house. The air smells like the countryside and the birds. It’s a very honest way to live. We don’t have a big staff, just a few local hands who know what they are doing. We’ve had good years and bad years depending on the market and the health of the flock. That is just the risk of this kind of life. We don't use any complicated systems, just the experience we have gained over the years. It’s about keeping the birds healthy and getting the eggs or meat ready for the market. It is a simple, hardworking life in a small village.
