The saw mill is located out at Sy. No 376 in the Sivar Thippannapet area of Jagtial. If you come by, you’ll hear the noise long before you see the gate. The big saws make a real racket when they’re cutting through the heavy timber. There is sawdust everywhere, clinging to our clothes and piling up on the floor. It’s a dusty, loud place to work, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We deal with all sorts of logs brought in from the district. Moving the wood around takes a lot of strength, and we use a few old machines to help with the heavy lifting. The sun gets really intense in this part of Jagitial, so we try to get the hardest work done in the early morning before it gets too hot to move. Mahalaxmi Amma Bhagavan Saw Mill & Timber Depot isn't a fancy showroom with polished furniture. It’s a timber depot, so what you see is raw wood and piles of planks. People come in looking for specific sizes, and we just cut it to order. There’s no big sales pitch here. We just show them what we have in stock and tell them the price. It’s honest, physical work that leaves you tired by the end of the shift. We just keep the blades sharp and the trucks moving.
