S S Cold Drinks

We are set up in Dharmangat Pur, over in the Shahpur area of Bhojpur. Our shop is right near the Kali Mata Mandir, which means we see a lot of people on festival days and weekends. Most of the time, it’s just the locals from Mahuyar stopping by. We sell cold drinks, and in this heat, that’s what people want. The dust from the road gets everywhere, so we are constantly wiping down the bottles. It’s a basic shop, just a few coolers and some crates stacked up. We don't have a lot of space for people to sit, so they usually just stand under the shade of the tree outside. The temple bells ring at certain times of the day, and that’s how we keep track of time mostly. We open up early and stay until it gets dark. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we have to worry about the drinks getting warm. That’s the hardest part of the job here. We don't have a big sign, just enough so people know we are here. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when there is a wedding or a celebration at the mandir. Then it gets very crowded and we stay busy all night. We just do what we can to keep the bottles cold and the customers happy enough to come back tomorrow. It’s a simple living for us and we like being part of the village.
