About Subhashree Handloom Producer Company Limited – Textile in Jagatsinghapur
We are Subhashree Handloom Producer Company Limited, and we operate out of Subrat Kumar Kar’s house in Nuapatana. This area is known for weaving, so it made sense for us to set up here. It’s not a factory in the traditional sense; it’s more like a collection of people working together in a local setting. We have looms and threads everywhere you look. Sometimes the house feels a bit crowded with all the material, but that’s how handloom work goes. We don’t have a big corporate office or a board of directors in suits. It’s just us, the producers, trying to make things that people can actually use. Subrat helps keep everything organized, though it can get chaotic when a big order comes in. The power goes out sometimes, and we have to wait it out, but the handlooms don't need electricity anyway. We just keep working by the window light. It’s a slow process, making things by hand, and it takes a lot of patience. My back hurts sometimes from sitting at the loom, but seeing the finished fabric makes it okay. We aren't trying to take over the world. We just want to keep our traditional work alive and make sure everyone gets paid fairly for their time. Nuapatana is a small place, and everyone knows what we’re doing here. It’s just a simple, honest way to make a living for our families.
