Our presence for L&T ECC Ltd in Nuapada, Orissa, is quite basic and functional, which suits the area just fine. We are located in a part of the country that is very beautiful but also quite remote from the big urban centers. The office is a simple building that serves as our home base for the various construction projects we are currently managing in this district. It’s not a fancy place by any means, and we like it that way. The walls are plain, and we have some old metal desks where we keep our ledgers and project blueprints. The local area is mostly quiet, with a lot of open land and small villages scattered around. We have to deal with things like frequent power cuts and the red dust that comes in from the unpaved roads nearby. Most of the people working here are from around the Orissa region, so we speak the local language and understand the pace of life in Nuapada. We start our work early in the morning to avoid the worst heat of the afternoon. There isn't a big sign outside the door, just the work going on inside. We drink a lot of water and strong tea while we go over the project schedules for the week. It’s a lot of manual coordination and talking with the local labor teams. We don’t have any of the modern office luxuries, but we have enough to get the work done.
