About Konark Spices – Food & Beverages in Jagatsinghapur
If you walk past Masha Ghai College in Kendrapara, you’ll probably smell us before you see us. We handle a lot of different spices here at Konark Spices. The air is always a bit thick with turmeric or chili powder, which makes everyone sneeze if they aren't used to it. We’ve been in this spot for a long time now, right near the post office. It’s a practical setup, mostly just grinding and packing things into bags for the local markets. The college students walk by every day on their way to class, and sometimes they peek in to see what we’re doing. We buy from the local growers whenever the season is right and the prices are fair. It’s hard work because you have to be careful with the heat of the grinders so the flavor of the spice doesn't go away. The machines are a bit old but they still run fine if you oil them regularly and listen for any weird noises. My nephew helps with the bookkeeping, though he says he prefers being out on the floor with the rest of the guys. We don't have a website or a social media page. Word of mouth is how we get most of our business. People know what we do. It’s a simple life, mostly spent weighing out portions and sealing bags for the next delivery truck. We always close up early on festival days to spend time at home.
