Suneel Kirana General Store

The shop is right where Awadh Puri Main Road meets Gwarighat Road here in Jabalpur. It’s a busy spot and we see a lot of people passing by all day long. My father started this place years ago and now I handle most of the daily work. We keep all the basic stuff like different types of dal, rice, and cooking oils. There are also lots of snacks hanging from the ceiling in plastic packets because the kids around here love them. Sometimes the traffic outside gets really loud especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home to Gwarighat. I spend a lot of time just rearranging the jars on the glass counter or checking what needs to be ordered for next week. It’s not a fancy place but it stays clean and we know most of the families who live in the nearby lanes. When the weather gets really hot in the summer we keep the fan running full speed but it still gets stuffy inside with all the sacks of grain sitting around. People come in to pick up a few things they forgot for dinner or maybe just a pack of biscuits. I usually sit on a small wooden stool behind the counter and wait for the next customer. It is a simple routine and it keeps us busy from morning until late at night when we finally pull the shutter down.
