Shubh Kirana Stores

Shubh Kirana Stores is right in the heart of Garha Bazar in Jabalpur. Specifically, we are near Pandaji Ki Madiya in the Agrha section. The bazar is always full of life, especially on the days when the local farmers bring in their fresh produce. Our shop focuses more on the dry goods, which we call kirana. We have big open bags of different lentils, rice, and spices. The smell of the spices is quite strong when you first walk in, but I’ve grown used to it over the years. My family has been doing this for a long time. I spend a lot of my day weighing out portions for customers and tying them up in plastic bags or paper. It’s a bit messy with the flour and grains, so the floor always has a bit of a white dusting on it. I have to be careful about the dampness during the rainy season because it can ruin the stock if I am not careful. We don't have a computer or anything; I still do all the bills by hand on a small pad of paper. It works fine for us and the customers don't mind. People come here because they know they can get exactly the amount they need, even if it's just a small handful of something. The Pandaji Ki Madiya landmark helps people find us if they are new to this part of the bazar. It’s just a traditional shop serving the local families.
