Shruti Kirana Store

Shruti Kirana Store is right here at Shop No 8 on Daya Nagar Main Road. We are in Jabalpur, specifically in the Jai Narayan Market area. Being in a market means there is competition everywhere, but we just focus on our own little corner. The shop is surrounded by other small businesses. We have a lot of crates stacked outside because there isn't enough room inside for everything. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with bags of rice and lentils everywhere. I usually sit on a low wooden stool near the entrance. The market is always noisy with people shouting and horns honking. You get used to it after a while. I spend my time talking to the suppliers who come to drop off new stock. We have to check every bag to make sure it’s what we ordered. My hands are usually busy tying up parcels with thin jute string. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us helping out. The roof is made of corrugated metal, so when it rains, it’s very loud inside. We just keep serving the customers and making sure they get their groceries. It is a very basic life, running a shop in the middle of a crowded market like this one. We stay here until the market starts to shut down for the night.
