Shekh Yusuf General Store

Shekh Yusuf General Store is tucked away in Behna Mohalla in Jabalpur, right below the masjid. This is a very old part of the city, and the streets are narrow and full of life. Our shop is quite small, but it serves the whole neighborhood. People coming from the masjid often stop by to pick up small things on their way home. We sell mostly general items, like matches, snacks, cleaning supplies, and basic food items. It stays pretty cool inside because of the way the building is made, which is nice during the Jabalpur summers. I spend most of my time here, talking to neighbors and keeping an eye on the street. It is not just about selling things; it is about being part of the community. We know who likes which brand of tea and who usually comes in on Saturdays. Sometimes the kids from the mohalla come in with a few coins for some sweets. We don't have a big sign or bright lights. Most people just know the shop is there under the masjid. It is a busy life with lots of noise from the street, but I wouldn't know what else to do with my time. We just keep the shelves filled as much as we can. Every night we close up the shutters and head home, only to do it all again the next morning when the sun comes up and the mohalla wakes up.
