Sahu Kirana Store

If you go to Gullaua Chowk in the Garha area of Jabalpur, you will find Sahu Kirana Store. We are located at House No 1143/1 in Shukla Nagar. It’s a typical local shop where we have sacks of grains sitting on the floor and rows of jars filled with candies and spices on the shelves. People from around the chowk come to us for their daily cooking needs, like mustard oil, salt, and various types of lentils. We’ve been part of this Jabalpur city neighborhood for a long time. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use every inch of space, even hanging packets of chips and shampoo from the ceiling beams. It gets quite crowded in the evenings when everyone finishes work and remembers they need something for dinner. We don't have any fancy technology, just a simple scale and a calculator to figure out the totals. Sometimes we have to move the heavy bags of rice around to find a specific brand someone wants, which is a bit of a workout. The street outside is usually full of people talking and kids playing, so there is always some noise coming in. We open the doors as soon as the sun is up and stay until the last few customers finish their shopping. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day, serving the people we’ve known for years in Shukla Nagar.
