Ruchi General Store

If you go to the Ghamapur area in Jabalpur, you will find our shop at 455, Sheetla Mai Road. Ruchi General Store is right near the Sarkari Kua. It’s a very old neighborhood with a lot of history. My shop has been here for a long time, and I’ve seen the streets change from quiet lanes to busy roads. We sell the usual household stuff that everyone needs. I open up early because the people around here like to get their shopping done before the sun gets too hot. Jabalpur can be quite warm, so the shade from the shop awning is a good place for people to stand for a minute. I don't have any staff; it’s just me and sometimes my nephew helps out on the weekends. The shelves are made of old wood and they groan a bit under the weight of the oil tins. I don't use any fancy barcodes or anything. I know the price of everything by heart. It’s a simple system, but it works. People come here because they know me and they know I won't overcharge them. We have a lot of small talk about the local politics or the weather. It’s a very human way to do business. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but here in Ghamapur. Sometimes we stay open a bit later if the neighbors are still out and about talking.
