Purvi General Store

Purvi General Store is out here in Karmeta, Jabalpur. We are specifically near the Iti Chungi Naka on Patan Road. It’s a busy spot with trucks and bikes constantly going past. The noise is something you just get used to after a few months. Inside, it’s mostly just me and sometimes a cousin helping out. We keep all the usual things people in Jabalpur need for their kitchens. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it's hot outside. We have bins for the loose grains and shelves for the packaged stuff. It gets a bit messy when the shipments arrive and we have to move everything around to find space. Patan Road is a main path, so we get people stopping by who are just traveling through. We don't really have a big sign, just the name above the door. Most people know we are here anyway. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the old hand-calculated bills. It’s not fancy. We just try to keep the staples in stock so nobody has to go too far into the main city. The area around Karmeta is growing, so there are always new faces popping in. We just keep the door open and wait for whoever needs something. It’s a steady way to spend the day. Sometimes we sit on the stools out front when there aren't many customers. It’s just a simple life running a store in Jabalpur and we like it.
