Prateek Kirana

You can find Prateek Kirana in the middle of Garha Market along the Main Road. This part of Jabalpur stays quite active from the morning until late at night. Our shop isn't very large but we keep it filled with the things people ask for most. There are always stacks of crates and cardboard boxes near the back. The counter is usually covered with small items like matches or candy that kids like to buy on their way home. We spend our time weighing out portions of flour or pulses for the families living nearby. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the store directly and the fan doesn't do much. We have a small stool behind the counter where we sit when things get a bit slower. The walls are lined with wooden racks that have been around for many years and have grown dark with age. We know the people around Garha quite well and they often stop by just to say hello while they do their daily shopping. There is no corporate feeling here at all. It is just a local spot where we do our work every day. Sometimes we run out of certain items and have to wait for the next delivery truck to arrive from the city center. We don't worry too much about having a perfect look. As long as the goods are fresh and the scale is working, we are satisfied with how things are.
