Peepal Store

Peepal Store is situated on Gwarighat Road in Jabalpur, not too far from the South Avenue Mall. Even though there is a big modern mall nearby, people still come to us for their daily needs. We have a large peepal tree right outside, which is why everyone calls it Peepal Store. The shade from the tree keeps the front of the shop nice and cool even during the peak of summer. We sell a mix of things, from snacks and cold drinks to regular household groceries like soap and toothpaste. A lot of people stop by on their way to the Gwarighat to visit the river. We stay open quite late because the road is always busy with traffic and people walking around in the evenings. The interior of the shop is a bit cramped because we have tried to fit in a refrigerator for the milk and curd. The shelves are made of simple iron racks that we painted blue a few years ago. We have a small stool behind the counter, but I rarely get a chance to sit down for long. It’s a lot of work keeping track of the stock and making sure nothing expires on the shelf. Sometimes we chat with the rickshaw drivers who park under the tree to get some rest. We don't have any big advertisements or banners, just a small board with the name on it. It’s a decent place to work and we like seeing the familiar faces every day.
