New K.K. General Stores

New K.K. General Stores is located in Garha Market on the Main Road. Even though the name says "new," we have been a part of this Jabalpur neighborhood for a good while. The shop is full of all kinds of household goods, from soaps to small plastic items and cleaning supplies. It’s the kind of place where you have to look closely to see everything because there’s stuff tucked into every corner and hanging from the hooks. The ceiling is high but we have shelves that go all the way up, so we often have to use an old wooden ladder to reach things. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of footsteps over the years. We don't really have a team of people, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. During the festivals, the market gets incredibly crowded and we barely have room to move inside with all the people. We don't do any big promotions or use fancy printed bags. Most people bring their own bags or we wrap things in old newspapers if they need it. It’s a very practical way of doing things. The Main Road can be very noisy with all the honking and the buses, but inside the shop, it’s mostly just the sound of us moving boxes or chatting with a neighbor. We keep the doors open all day to let in the air, even if it brings in a bit of dust from the street.
