Kumar Provision

Kumar Provision is over in the Garha area of Jabalpur. We have been operating from this spot for a long time. It’s a simple provision store where we keep the usual household supplies. The shop doesn't have a big fancy storefront. It’s just a wide door that we open up every morning and let the light in. Inside, the air usually smells like a mix of dried grains and laundry soap. We have wooden counters that are a bit faded now from years of use. There are no fancy displays here. We just put the items on the shelves where they fit. A lot of our day is spent talking to the locals who come in for their weekly supplies. We know most of the families around here quite well. It’s a quiet kind of life, except when the school nearby lets out and the kids come in for small snacks or pens. We don't have a big staff, just the family members taking turns behind the counter throughout the week. The shelves are mostly filled with bags of rice, sugar, and various bottled goods. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and we have to use a flashlight to find things for the customers. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s what we have. We keep track of everything in a thick ledger book with a pen. It’s a very manual process. No need for anything more complicated in a place like this.
