Kanha Earthmovers

We are based out in Keolari, which is in the Seoni district. It is a bit quieter out here compared to the big cities, but there is still plenty of work to do. We work with earthmoving machines, the big ones that dig and move dirt around for various projects. Most of our days are spent out in the open, sometimes in the mud or under the hot sun. The machines need a lot of looking after, so when they aren't working on a site, we are usually checking the grease points or fixing a hydraulic line. Keolari is a place where everyone kind of knows everyone else. We don't have a polished office with air conditioning. Instead, we have a yard where the equipment sits and a small shed for our tools and oil drums. Moving earth is hard work and it gets messy. Your clothes are always stained with red soil or oil by the end of the shift. But it’s good to see a piece of land change after we’ve been working on it for a few days. We take things as they come and don't worry too much about being flashy. The people around Seoni know us as the guys with the yellow machines. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done. It’s a practical life for us here in the district, and that's just fine with us.
