Guru Kirpa General Store

Our shop is right across from Sanatan School here in Haathi Taal. If you are in Jabalpur City, you probably know the area because of all the kids running around when classes let out. Guru Kirpa General Store is a small spot where we keep all kinds of bits and pieces. We have notebooks, pens, snacks, and the usual household things people forget to buy at the big market. The shelves are a bit crowded and some of the jars have been there since we opened. We don’t do much advertising. People just know we are here. The traffic outside can be quite loud with the horns and the buses, but inside it’s usually just the sound of the radio playing some old songs. I spend a lot of time dusting off the plastic toys and checking the dates on the milk packets. It gets very hot in the summer, so we keep the door open to catch whatever breeze comes through Jabalpur. Sometimes parents wait here for their children, leaning against the counter and chatting about their day. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. It is a bit messy sometimes, especially on Mondays, but we manage to find what people are looking for. We just stay here, sell our goods, and watch the school year go by from our little corner. It is a steady life and we have gotten used to the noise and the rhythm of the school.
