Avi Karan Oil

We are up on the first floor of Bhasin Arcade in Gorakhpur. If you come to No. 13, you’ll find our office. It’s a typical commercial building, so there’s always people coming and going up the stairs. At Avi Karan Oil, we handle the distribution side of things. Most of my day is spent on the phone with suppliers or checking on deliveries. It’s not a flashy job, but oil is something everyone needs, so there’s always work to do. The office has a few desks, a lot of ledger books, and a window that looks out over the street. Sometimes the traffic down there is so bad you can hear the horns all the way up here. We’ve been in the arcade for a while now, and we know the other shopkeepers on our floor. We usually start the day with some tea and a look at the price lists. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the accounts are right and the trucks are on their way. There’s always a bit of stress when a shipment is late, but that’s just how the business goes. We try to stay honest and keep things moving without too much fuss. It’s a simple operation, really. We aren't looking to expand across the whole country; we just want to do right by our regular customers here in Gorakhpur.
