Brijesh General Store

Brijesh General Store is tucked away in Chouksey Mohalla, Temar Bheeta, right in Jabalpur City. It is a neighborhood shop where most of our customers are just the people living in the nearby houses. We stock the basic things you might need in a hurry, like matches, cooking oil, salt, or some biscuits for the kids. I have been running this place since I took it over from my father. The shop is part of our house, so I am always around if someone knocks on the shutter. It’s not a big place with bright lights. We have one or two bulbs and some old shelves that could probably use a new coat of paint. I spend a lot of my day sitting on the wooden stool, waiting for the afternoon rush. Usually, it's quiet during the heat of the day. I keep a ledger where I write down what people owe if they are short on cash that day. We don't have a computer or a barcode scanner. Everything is done by hand. Sometimes the delivery truck can't make it into the narrow lane, so I have to go out to the main road to collect the boxes. It’s a lot of physical work, moving things around and keeping the place tidy. We don't have a big staff, just me and sometimes my son helps out. It's a modest life but we're happy to serve our neighbors. We just keep the shelves full and the door open for everyone around here.
