Balochistan Kirana Store

Balochistan Kirana Store is located right by Gate No 3 on Station Road in the Madan Mahal area of Jabalpur. Being so close to the station gate means we get a lot of foot traffic. People are always in a hurry to catch a train or coming home tired from a long journey. We keep the usual kirana items like spices, oils, lentils, and snacks. The shop is small and the shelves go all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a small ladder to reach the top rows where we keep the things people don't buy as often. The noise from the station is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We start early in the morning and don't really close up until late at night. There’s a lot of dust from the road, so cleaning is a constant job. We have a small ledger where we keep track of what the regulars owe us until the end of the month. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us and the neighbors. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It’s just a plain shop with honest goods. Sometimes we sit outside on a plastic chair when the store is empty, just watching the people go into the station. It’s a busy life, but it’s our life here in Jabalpur.
