We run Baderiya Kirana And General Stores over in the Cherital area of Jabalpur. Our shop is situated right in front of the Gopal Vihar Market near Damohnaka. It is a very busy intersection, so there is always a lot of dust and noise from the trucks and buses passing by. We deal in all the basic kirana items. This means we spend a lot of our day weighing out pulses, rice, and flour for the families living nearby. We also keep general items like soaps and cleaners for the house. The shop has been a part of the Damohnaka scene for quite some time now. We start our day by pulling up the heavy metal shutter and setting out the bags of grain on the front step. It is hard work, and our backs often ache by the end of the day, but it is what we do to get by. The Gopal Vihar Market brings in a lot of people, so we are rarely sitting idle for long. Sometimes we have to deal with a lot of people at once, all wanting their grocery lists filled quickly. We don't use any fancy computers for our billing, just a simple notebook and a pen. It works for us and our customers don't seem to mind the wait. We just focus on keeping the store stocked and being there when the neighborhood needs their supplies.
