Abhishek Daal Mill

Abhishek Daal Mill is sitting at House No. 414 in the village of Sahajpur. We are out in the Tehsil Patan area of Jabalpur district, and the Jain Mandir is the closest landmark if you are trying to find the place. It is a quiet village for the most part, except for when the mill is running. The machines make a lot of noise when we are processing the dal, but everyone around here is used to it by now. This is a family-run kind of setup, and we have been in Sahajpur for quite a while. We get the raw harvest from the local farmers and then we spend the day cleaning and splitting it. It is dusty work, and you end up with flour on your clothes by the time evening rolls around. There is no big corporate structure here, just a few of us making sure the equipment stays running and the bags get stacked right. We have a small yard where the tractors pull in to drop off the grain. On hot days, it gets pretty stuffy inside the mill, but we just open the big doors and keep going. Most of our neighbors know us, and we usually sell what we produce to the local markets around Jabalpur. It is a simple business, focusing on one thing and making sure it gets done every day without too much fuss or trouble.
