Pr Bricks

Pr Bricks is located in Nagpur Kala village, right on the Main Road. A good landmark for us is the Natraj Oil Plant which is very close by. You can usually smell the oil when the wind blows the right way toward our yard. Our yard is right there on the roadside, so we see everyone passing through the village. We make bricks the traditional way, using the local soil and firing them in the kilns. It is a lot of physical work, especially during the summer months when the heat is intense and the ground is dry. We have a group of workers who live nearby and they are the ones who keep the whole place running. The office is just a small room with a fan and a desk where we take the cash and write out receipts for the loads. There is always a layer of brick dust on the furniture no matter how much we clean. People just pull their tractors or trucks right into the yard to get what they need for their building projects. We don't do any big marketing; we just rely on the fact that we are easy to find on the main road. The village of Nagpur Kala is a quiet place otherwise. We spend our time checking the quality of the clay and making sure the fire in the kiln stays hot. It is a basic life, but it is what we know and we stay busy.
