Agartala Government Medical College

The college is situated out in the Kunjaban area, right near the post office here in Agartala. It is a significant part of the community in Tripura, and most people around here have some connection to the place. The grounds are fairly large compared to some of the other buildings in the city, and there is usually a lot of coming and going because of the medical nature of the site. It is a government run facility, so things move at their own pace and the buildings have that functional, lived-in feel. We deal with a lot of heat and humidity during the summer months, which is just part of living in this part of India. The hallways are wide but they can get quite busy with students and staff rushing to different departments. We have the standard labs and lecture halls you would expect. It is a place of work more than anything else. People come here from all over the state to study or work. We don't spend much time on decorations; we just keep the equipment running and the schedules on track as best as we can. Being near the Kunjaban post office makes it a landmark for those who are traveling from further away. It’s a hardworking environment where everyone is mostly focused on their books or their clinical duties. There is always a sense of purpose in the air, even on the slower days.
