Utsav Rakhi

Up on the fourth floor here in Holker Market, things get really busy, especially when the festivals are coming up. We are located right at Aadha Bazar, and if you go behind the main market building, you will find the entrance to our spot. Utsav Rakhi has been in this same space for quite a few years now. The climb up the stairs can be a lot for some people, but it is quieter up here away from the street noise. There are piles of thread and beads everywhere you look. We spend most of our days sorting through different colors and making sure everything is counted correctly. It is not a very organized-looking place, to be honest. There are always half-empty tea cups on the tables and bits of string on the floor. My father used to run things, but now it is mostly me and a couple of helpers. We do not have a big website or anything fancy. We just sell rakhis to the shops in the bazaar downstairs and some others who know we are here. The light in the afternoon is good for seeing the small details on the threads. Sometimes the monsoon rain leaks a little near the window, so we have to move the stock around. It is just a regular small business trying to keep up with the seasonal rush every year. We do our work and go home when the sun sets.
