New Khalsa Wood Works

Working at New Khalsa Wood Works means you basically go home every single day covered in a layer of fine sawdust. We are located at No. 393A in the Guru Nanak Timber Market, which is right in front of Ramkrishan Bag. It is a very active spot, especially in the early mornings when the big logs start arriving on the flatbed trucks. You can hear the saws running from all the way down the street. We deal with a lot of syp pine wood here, and the stacks are piled up almost to the roof in some sections. The smell of fresh timber is very strong and it is something you never quite get out of your nose. Across from us is the greenery of Ram Kishan Bagh, which is a nice thing to look at when we step outside for a quick break. The shop itself is quite old, with heavy doors and concrete floors that have been stained by years of hard work and oil. We have all sorts of tools lying around on the benches, like saws and measuring tapes that always seem to wander off. It is definitely not a quiet office job. People come in looking for very specific cuts of pine, and we do our best to find the right piece in the piles. Sometimes the market gets so crowded with carts that you can hardly move, but that is just the timber business.
