The Room

You can find us at Ff-109 in the Mangal City Mall. We are right next to the McDonald’s, so we can always smell the fries throughout the day. It’s a small space, like the name suggests. Being in a mall means we deal with a lot of people just walking past and peering in through the glass. We try to keep things looking decent, but it's a bit cramped with all the stock we have to fit in here. The mall music is always playing in the background, which can get a bit much after eight hours. I spend most of my shift folding things or talking to folks who wander in after getting lunch next door. Vijaynagar is a busy part of town, so the mall is usually full of teenagers and families. Our shop is just one of many, but we have our regular customers who come to see what’s new. It’s not a huge corporate store with hundreds of employees. Usually, it's just one or two of us working the floor. Sometimes the air conditioning in the mall works too well and we have to wear sweaters even in the summer. We don’t have a big back room, so when new boxes arrive, we have to unpack them right there in the middle of the shop. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but we manage to get by every day.
