You can find Shaleen Overseas at No. 48 Sajan Nagar, which is very close to Nawlakha Square. It’s a busy part of town, so there’s always something happening right outside our door. We deal with overseas trade, which mostly means we spend our time looking at shipping documents and talking to agents on the phone. The office is full of filing cabinets and stacks of papers that need to be stamped or signed. It’s not the most modern looking office, but it’s where we’ve been for quite a while. We have a small warehouse area where we keep samples of the things we move. It’s often a bit chaotic when a new shipment arrives and we have to check everything against the lists. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just try to make sure the boxes get from one country to another without getting stuck at the port for too long. The noise from Nawlakha Square filters in throughout the day, so it’s rarely quiet. We know the local tea sellers and the other business owners on the block. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we have to wait around to send emails, which gives us a chance to catch up on each other's lives. It’s a lot of logistical work and basic problem-solving. We just show up, do the paperwork, and head home when the sun goes down and the workday finally finishes.
