Shalby Hospital

Shalby Hospital here in Indore is situated right near Janjeer Wala Square, which most locals know is a pretty hectic spot. There’s always someone honking outside or a rickshaw trying to squeeze through. Our building stands out among the shops and offices nearby. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is how much cooler it is compared to the dusty street. The lobby is usually full of families sitting on the benches, waiting for news or appointments. We have several floors dedicated to different things, and the elevators are constantly moving up and down. Working here means seeing a lot of life every single day. Some mornings are slow, giving us a chance to refill the sanitizers and organize the charts, but by noon, it’s usually quite loud. The staff room is small, and we often eat our tiffins quickly before the next round of patients comes in. You get used to the smell of cleaning fluids and the bright white lights in the hallways. Sometimes the power flickers, and the generators kick in with a low hum that vibrates through the floor. It’s a place that never really sleeps. Even late at night, there’s always a light on somewhere and a guard sitting by the entrance watching the empty square. We don’t really do much besides focus on the people coming through the doors and making sure the rooms stay tidy. It’s just how things go around here every day.
