Shakti Distemper

Shakti Distemper has been operating out of 407/9 Agarwal Compound for a good while. If you go down toward Sukliya and head into the Khatipura side near Gouri Nagar, that’s where you’ll find us. It’s a dusty place, honestly. That is just how it is when you’re dealing with paint and distemper all day. We have stacks of buckets everywhere and the smell of fresh mix is always in the air. People come by looking for specific shades for their houses or maybe a bigger project. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s just the compound where the work gets done. My clothes usually have a few spots of white or yellow on them by lunch. It’s hard work, moving those heavy containers around, especially when it’s hot outside. The guys here have been doing this a long time. We know which mixes work best for the local walls. Sometimes the machines get a bit loud, and we have to shout to be heard over the noise. It’s a local business through and through. We know the painters who come in every week and the shop owners from Gouri Nagar who need stock. It’s not glamorous, but it keeps the neighborhood looking bright. We stay busy with orders coming in and out of the compound. We are just a bunch of regular people making paint for our neighbors.
