Shadowgraphy Studio

Shadowgraphy Studio is located in the basement level, LG 3, of the Gold Arcade building at Janjeerwala Square. Being in Indore, this is a pretty central spot, and we get a lot of people passing by the building every day. Since we are in the lower ground floor, the lighting in the studio is something we have to control ourselves with various lamps and reflectors. It’s a quiet space once you get downstairs, which is good for focusing on the camera work. We have different backdrops and gear scattered around the room, and it often feels like a bit of a maze with all the tripod legs and power cords on the floor. We spend a lot of time just setting up for a shot and then even more time sitting at the computer to look at the results. It isn't a glamorous job, mostly just moving heavy lights around and trying to get the angles right. Sometimes we sit on the steps outside Janjeerwala Square just to get some fresh air and watch the traffic for a bit. The studio is our main base, and even though it's in a basement, we’ve made it comfortable enough to spend the whole day in. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the equipment and get the work done. It’s a steady pace and we like it that way.
