Ruhi General Store

Ruhi General Store is tucked away in Scheme No. 54 over in Vijay Nagar. If you know where Dilip Kirana is, we are right nearby. It’s a decent spot in Indore to run a shop. We deal with all kinds of household goods. From shampoos and detergents to biscuits and cooking oil, it’s all here. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be smart about how we pile the boxes. Sometimes the delivery guys leave stuff right in the middle of the floor and we have to scramble to move it before customers trip. It’s just me and a couple of helpers most days. We start early, around the time people are heading out for their morning walks. Indore gets pretty warm, so we keep the fans going all day. Dealing with the summer heat while moving crates of cold drinks is probably the toughest part of the job. We get a lot of students from the nearby hostels coming in for snacks and stationery. It’s nice having that young energy around. We don’t do any big advertising. Most people find us just by walking past or hearing about us from a neighbor. It’s a straightforward business. We buy things from the wholesalers and sell them to the people living around here. There is always a list of things to order and shelves to wipe down. It keeps us on our toes from open to close, but that is just how it goes for us.
