Plaxmichand And Co. is situated at 18, Shradhanand Marg in the Chhawani area. This part of town has been around for ages, and our building definitely looks the part. It is a sturdy old structure with high ceilings and very thick walls. We mostly deal with the supply and trade of various materials that people need. The air inside always smells a bit like old wood and dusty metal. We have heavy wooden desks and old-fashioned drawers where we keep all the paper records. There isn't any air conditioning here, just the big ceiling fans that hum and wobble all day long. We start early in the morning, sweeping the front step before the traffic on Shradhanand Marg gets too heavy for the day. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to us for many years. They know we don't move very fast, but we get the job done right eventually. The inventory is stored in the back rooms, and sometimes it takes a little while to find a specific item in the dark corners. We don't have a computerized system, so every single thing is written down by hand in the books. It is a slow and steady way to work. We don't really worry about what the bigger companies are doing. We just focus on the people who walk into our shop. It is a bit dusty and the lighting isn't great, but it is a place where real work happens. We are just a part of the local history.
