Our place is called Annapurna and that is where we do all our work every day. It is a simple building and we have been here for a good amount of time now. The name on the outside is easy to spot if you are walking by. We usually start quite early in the morning when it is still a bit quiet on the street. Inside, it is just a bunch of us sitting at our desks dealing with the National Scheme papers. There is always a lot to keep track of, so we spend most of our time looking at ledgers or typing on the keyboards. It is not the kind of place with bright lights or fancy carpets. We have old fans that hum a bit and the windows stay open when the weather is nice. Sometimes people drop by just to clarify a small thing about their accounts. We don't really do much else besides the paperwork. It is quiet for the most part, except for the sound of the traffic outside or the occasional phone ringing. Lunchtime is when we all sit together and share whatever we brought from home. It is a steady kind of life here. We know the neighbors and the people who sell tea downstairs. There is not much to say except that we are here doing what we do every single weekday. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the papers pile up high on the desks and we have to stay late to finish.
