Nakoda Kirana Store

We are located in the 636-R Sector area of Nariman Point here in Mahalaxmi Nagar. It is quite close to Pioneer College, so we see many young people passing by throughout the day. Our shop, Nakoda Kirana Store, has been part of this Indore neighborhood for a good while now. Every morning begins the same way with us sweeping the front and getting the stock ready. We carry the usual things people need for their homes like lentils, rice, different kinds of oils, and spices. Sometimes the delivery trucks arrive late and things get a bit messy behind the counter, but we manage to get everything onto the shelves eventually. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things pretty high. There is a wooden stool I use to reach the top rows of biscuit packets and tea boxes. My nephew helps out in the afternoons when the college students come in looking for snacks or pens. It gets a bit noisy with the traffic outside on the main road, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We don't have fancy lights or big signs, just a simple place where you can find what you need for the kitchen. Sometimes people stay for a minute to talk about the weather or the local news while we weigh their sugar. It is a busy life but it keeps us connected to the people living around here.
