Merchantile System

At No. 35/2 in Laxmi Bai Nagar, you will find Merchantile System. We are located near Kila Maidan, which is a fairly well-known landmark in this part of town. The office is pretty simple, with just enough room for our desks and the equipment we keep on hand. We aren't big on decorations, so the walls are mostly bare except for a calendar and a few notes taped up near the phone. It stays quiet here during the early hours, which is when we get most of our paperwork finished for the day. By midday, things pick up and we usually have people dropping in or calling about various systems they need. We don’t have a script for how we talk to people; we just answer their questions as best as we can. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to fix them later, but that’s just how it goes when you’re busy. The area around Kila Maidan can get a bit congested, so we try to get our deliveries out early in the morning before the traffic gets bad. We like being in this neighborhood because it feels like a real community. We know the people at the nearby shops and we look out for each other. It’s not a high-pressure environment here. We just show up every morning, open the shutters, and see what the day brings. It’s a good, honest way to run things.
