Informatic Press (India) sits right in the middle of the bustle at Khajuri Bazar. Our address is No. 6 Kunwar Mandli, and if you’re looking for us, we are right opposite the Rajendra Manglik Bhawan. Indore gets very hot in the summer, and our spot on Subhash Marg feels it the most. The smell of paper and ink is everywhere here. We have these old printing machines that have been running for years, and they make a steady rhythmic thumping sound that you eventually stop noticing. Our desks are piled high with proofs and old newspapers. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s where we work. We have a lot of people walking in from the street asking for directions because we are such a visible landmark near the Bhawan. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside on the steps and talk until it comes back on. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t have a fancy receptionist; usually, you just walk in and shout for someone. The floors are a bit uneven, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy to get around to it. We keep 183 Subhash Marg open until late most nights because the work just keeps coming. It’s a place where we spend our days and we feel right at home here in Indore.
