Kanak Shree Kirana

Our kirana shop is situated on the main road in the Tilak Nagar area of Indore. It’s a busy spot in Bawrasla, and since we are on the main road, there is a lot of noise from the vehicles passing by all day. We deal mostly in the stuff you need for a kitchen, like different types of dals, rice, and spices that Indore is known for. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so we have to pull down the shade to keep the place cool. We have big metal bins for the grains and we spend a lot of time weighing things out for customers who want exactly a half-kilo or two hundred grams. It’s a local place where people stop on their scooters to grab a packet of milk or some matches. The walls have a few posters from suppliers and the shelves are a bit mismatched, but they hold everything we need. We don't have a lot of help, so if it's busy, people might have to wait a minute while we finish with someone else. Most of the people around here are regulars who have been coming to us since they moved into the Banganga area. We don't do anything special, just show up, open the shutters, and start the day. It’s about being there when someone runs out of salt in the middle of cooking.
