Our place is right on the ground floor of Dhenu Market, which is a pretty hectic area in Indore. If you know the Sgsits Road, you know how it gets with all the students and traffic moving around. We occupy units 13 and 14 here. The Institute Of Engineering Science & Management has been part of this neighborhood for a good while. The rooms are filled with rows of benches and whiteboards that have seen a lot of use over the semesters. There is usually a bit of chalk dust or marker smell in the air. We don’t have any fancy lounges or coffee machines; there’s a tea stall just outside the market gates where most of us go during breaks. The floors are that old-fashioned stone that stays cold, and the ceiling fans hum quite loudly when they’re on high. It’s a functional space. We spend our hours going through curriculum details or talking to students who are trying to figure out their next steps. The front door stays open mostly to let some air in, so you hear the sounds of the market and the bikes passing by all day long. It can be a bit distracting, but it’s just how it is working in this part of town. We keep our files in metal cabinets that creak when you open them. It’s a straightforward setup where we just get on with the daily tasks of running an institute.
