G. S. Kalsi Motors

Mechanic Nagar is a loud place. There is always the sound of engines or someone hammering something. G. S. Kalsi Motors has been sitting at 56-57 for a long time. It’s right near Bhawarkuwa Chowk, so there is no shortage of noise or people passing by. I usually open up early before the sun gets too hot. The shop floor is stained with oil, and the shelves are full of parts that have been there since I can't remember when. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a desk in the corner covered in old bills and a few chairs for when people need to sit down. My hands are usually dirty by nine in the morning. That’s just how it goes here. People come in from all over the neighborhood because they know we are here. It isn't a corporate setup. We don't wear uniforms. Usually, it's just a worn-out shirt and trousers that can take the grime. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings over a few cups, and we take a break. It's a simple way to run a business. We focus on the metal and the motors. If the shop is messy, it means we are working hard. Bhawarkuwa Chowk is always chaotic, but once you step into the alley here, it feels more familiar. We just keep doing what we know, day in and day out, at our own pace.
