Doshi General Store

Doshi General Store is right in the middle of Azad Nager Musakdi in Indore. This part of the city is always full of life and the smell of street food is everywhere. I open up the shutters around eight in the morning and start by giving the floor a quick sweep. It is a simple life, selling packets of spices, bags of sugar, and different kinds of snacks to the local people. Indore is famous for its food, so we make sure to keep a good stock of the local savory items that everyone loves. The shop can get a bit cluttered because we have so many different things in such a small space. Boxes are often piled up in the corners waiting to be unpacked. I have been working here for a long time and I know most of the people who walk by. We talk about the local news or how the cricket match went the night before. Sometimes the fridge for the cold drinks acts up and I have to call the repairman from the next street over. It is a bit loud with the traffic outside, but you get used to it after a while. My wife sometimes brings me tea in the afternoon and stays to help if there is a crowd. We just keep the place running as best as we can without much fuss. It is a good way to stay busy.
