Siyaganj is a very hectic market, and it stays busy from early morning until late at night. There are always sacks of nuts and boxes of tea being moved around on the pavement. Our shop is usually quite crowded with customers and delivery people trying to get through. We have different kinds of dry fruits in glass jars and large bags of tea leaves stacked up toward the ceiling. It can be hard to move around when we have a big delivery coming in. The air usually smells like a mix of cardamom and roasted nuts. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations. The shelves are wooden and a bit worn out from years of use. My father and I, along with a few helpers, run the place. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the regulars who have been coming to Siyaganj for decades. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light coming in from the street. It’s just how things are in this part of town.
